I worked out why I'm so upset. At least, for this week.
It's obviously because Shuvs gone off to stay with someone else, and part of her going involves her getting... comfort. Because she's not reachable, I'm assuming she's up to all sorts - and she has every right to be - but when I think of her being with someone else, doing things we didn't do for ages into our relationship, it.. well, it hurts.
But it's all very childish. It really is a case of want, a case of 'if I cant have her, no-one can'. I'm jealous and empty. I suppose it's natrual to feel like this, when you see your ex-lover go off with someone else (even if it is for meaningless comfort sex - I'd do the same if I could, especially with my clingyness), but it still feels petty and childish and therefore not really recognisable as a true emotion.
If she were to be properly involved with this guy, well... that'd be a different matter. But again, she has every right, and it's just me being natrually upset.
I just want her to come up for a bit, so I can... well, so I can see her again, and so I can know how I really feel. It's hard to tell what with not having seen since before we broke up. I've looked up prices for the week after I come back from London, but undoubtedly she'll make excuses (valid ones, though) and not come. And I'll still be alone.

Okay, so I picked up the new PC today after it'd been built. It has, however, shown an alarming tendancy to fuck up - I'm on the third install of XP tonight. I'm hoping it's just a bad copy of XP, or that the latest updates'll stabilise it. We'll see.
I'm gonna beg shuv for my Home CD back just in case, though.

In the words of Fran Katzenjammer, 'I keep buying things to cheer myself up..'. I've got a new PC lined up for that 500 I got from the council scholarship, I'm keeping an eye on a DDS4 DAT drive on eBay, and today I bought a new PVC top and a couple of pairs of gloves.

Cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth, which ends in the usual 'OH GOD WHY MUST YOU HAVE AN OPINION ON EVERYTHING' speech. Sorry, I'll be less sentient from now on.
So, apart from that little spat, things are okay. Uni isnt quite as hard as I've been dreading - though I do need to make a start on my project now - and I'm learning things of interest. So it's not turned into a chore, is what I mean. Recently I picked up three second-hand machines off Gordon - two K6's and a PII. One of the K6's is going to Pauline, one of the cousins, and the other ones dead. I ordered a board/CPU/RAM combo off ebay, though. The PII just about works, but it needs a network card, so I've ordered a trio from eBuyer for general purposes. The new WAP still hasn't been delivered, but I'm in no rush - it won't benefit me til I get a Wii at Xmas (I wanna wii!)

Argh, still feel squidgy.
Advanced Internet Technologies looks like it's gonna be fairly difficult. Oh, the shame, of finding something at Paisley hard! Reminds me, I need to make a start on the project - I'll try and get a hold of Gallagher tomorrow to arrange a time to meet about it between the end of SSS lectures and the start of the UNIX ones (no SSS lab tomorrow). Should start with some research into the viability of Internet-based applications, et cetera. Yawn.
Er... grandparents back tomorrow, so I'll need to tidy up a bit. But first, a wash, then the pigeons &c. Jesus, I need to do everything around here.
I ordered a new SATA disk so I can make a JBOD out of it and the current 250GB one - just because I can't be arsed making Windows recognise the disk as bigger than 128GB when it's in IDE mode (and I have a sneaking suspicion that you'd need SP2 to fix that issue in XP, so nuts to it).
Feh.
